This project is going to be a two part-er...and a quick turn around time!

Part 1

You'll recreate an existing

album cover of your choosing!

Part 2

You'll create your own original

album cover for a song or album

of your choosing!

Part 1: Recreating an Existing Album

You can choose any album cover to recreate...BUT!

80% of your album cover should be photos

(you can collage/composite separate photos.)

The remaining 20% can be editing, added graphics, text, etc.

Do not choose something like these.

If you choose a simple set up–it should be 1 to 1 accurate.

You will be graded on your accuracy!

The lighting, settings, composition should be as close to the same as possible!!

If you choose a more complex set up, there is some flexibility.

(Obviously, you're not going to find all these things.)

If you choose to use an album cover that isn't originally photo-based, you must recreate it with photography...

Part 2: Original Album Cover

For your original cover shot, you should consider the elements we discussed above: ~The themes, stories, messages, meaning, visuals~

And conceptualize how your photograph reflects the song or album.

Don't do something like this:

Project 1: Album Cover Photography

Objective

For this project, you will create two photo-based album covers:

1. Recreate an existing album cover

2. Create your own original album cover for your favorite song or album.

Specs

• 80% of your album cover should be photos (you can collage/composite separate photos.)

• The remaining 20% can be editing, added graphics, text, etc.

• All photos used must be your photos! (No using existing photos or stock photos.)

• Your photos will be cropped to square dimensions for critique (1:1 ratio)

Critique

I have a limited amount of large glossy paper for you to use for our critique. Please test print on other paper before using it.

You're also always welcome to get them printed elsewhere.

First step is to decide which albums and songs we're working with!

Then we can strategize and plan for our shots.
